A Mountain View turkey hunter was shot by mistake Wednesday when another hunter fired at movement he saw in the Pioneer Forest in Shannon County.
Conservation department District Supervisor Aaron Pondrom said Chase Rutledge, 31, was moving toward a flock of turkeys when he was hit in the head, neck, arm and hand by shotgun pellets fired by Darrel Crider, 17, of Eminence.
The teen had set up next to a tree and was targeting the same flock of birds when he fired the mistaken shot, Pondrom said.
"The shooter observed movement and unfortunately that ended up being another hunter," Pondrom said.
