Springfield’s Trey Starks has been named the Mid-America Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Starks set and then equaled his career high in scoring in consecutive games while leading Pittsburg State University (Pittsburg, Kansas) to a pair of wins over teams above them in the MIAA standings. He scored a career-high 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting Thursday (Feb. 11) as the Gorillas held off Fort Hays State, 101-92.
Two days later, Starks matched his new career-high scoring total, scoring 21 of his 28 points in the second half as Pitt State pulled away to defeat Nebraska-Kearney, 77-61, on Senior Day at John Lance Arena.
