Springfield might soon have a world champion.
The Springfield Lasers qualified for the World TeamTennis finals with a 25-18 winner-take-all win over the San Diego Aviators on Thursday in California.
The Lasers won six of their final seven matches to earn the league's final spot in the championship match. They will play the Philadelphia Freedoms at 1 p.m. on the campus of Drexel University in Philadelphia.
“It feels great,” Abigail Spears said in a press release. ”It’s my first final and as a team, we didn’t expect to be here in this position at this point, so we’re pretty happy.
