Springfield is one of 10 finalists to get a team in a new professional indoor football league that kicks off in 2024.
The Arena League is considering Springfield, Kansas City and several other mid-American cities to host teams for its inaugural season and is soliciting votes from fans to gauge the interest in the different markets. Visit the league's website at TheArenaLeague.Football to vote.
NFL Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown will serve as the league's commissioner. In a news release, he touted Springfield's potential as a host city.
"Springfield is an incredible community," Brown said.
