Seniors Tyson Riley and Nick Crites’ accomplishments on the gridiron have long secured their place in Springfield Catholic football history. On Friday night at O’Reilly Sports Complex, they added the accomplishment that mattered most.

Riley and Crites combined for 224 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the first half as Catholic raced to a 35-point lead at intermission and downed the Buffalo Bison, 42-6. The Fightin’ Irish (10-2) will represent District 5 in the Class 3 state quarterfinals next Friday night against Mount Vernon.
Sophomore quarterback Jamen Smith led Buffalo to nine wins this season and captured Player of the Year honors in the News-Leader online poll.
