Paddlefish season for three lakes and a river in Missouri kicks off in a couple of weeks.
The spring snagging season is March 15 through April 30 at Lake of the Ozarks, Truman Lake and Table Rock Lake. The Mississippi River season is March 15 through May 15 with a fall season Sept. 15 through Dec. 15, according to a news release from Missouri Department of Conservation.
Paddlefish are known for their large, paddle-shaped snouts and may grow to 7 feet and weigh more than 100 pounds.
“Unless exempt, anglers must have a current fishing permit to snag or to operate a boat for snaggers,” MDC said.
