Meranda Gulick hurried home Saturday after an intense volleyball game in Everton.
It was the quarterfinals against Midway. She plays libero — or back-row defensive specialist — and her team took home the win, and she still needed to get chores done at home before heading out to the fields with her dad, Joshua Gulick.
It was the start of the early youth portion of deer season, and Meranda was itching to get out there. Twelve-year-old sister Makynna Gulick had already bagged an 8-point buck in Dade County that morning.
Once in the tree stand, Meranda didn't really see much at first.
