Singing park ranger turns pop songs into conservation parodies

Get ready to have the phrase "Ponca only happens when it's raining," in your head the rest of the day.

That gem is part of a parody about floating the Buffalo River that Park Ranger Lauren Ray posted on Facebook.

The moral of the song is that visitors should seek floating spots on the lower river when it's been dry, causing spots on the upper river, like Ponca, to be too low.

"Please know what the river gauge is saying," Ray croons to viewers.

Ray has been with the National Parks Service since 2015, and though she's a native of the Ozarks, her professional career first took her to Utah.
