Some of the stats from Saturday’s Senior Day game at JQH Arena would lead you to believe Missouri State was ready to spring an upset of No. 25 Wichita State.
The Bears turned the ball over only nine times against the Shockers’ in-your-face defense. They outrebounded the bigger, tougher Shockers 33-31, grabbing 11 offensive boards.
But none of that mattered when you see wave after wave of offensive weapons that Wichita State sent on the floor.
The Shockers (27-4, 17-1) clinched a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship, shooting better than 54 percent from the floor in an 86-67 victory in front of a season-high crowd of 6,823.
