When Missouri State opens play in the WNIT on Thursday night, it will be about more than just a basketball game for the team.
It will be therapeutic, as well.
The Lady Bears’ last game came in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Moline, Illinois, last Friday, and after cruising to a 10-point halftime lead against underdog Evansville in the quarterfinals, the plan went awry.
Evansville outscored the Lady Bears 45-29 in the second half to claim a 65-59 victory.
For comparison’s sake, Evansville scored 41 and 43 points in losing two regular-season routs to Missouri State.
