As far as news leaks go during the Missouri Valley Conference’s expansion process, this was a blockbuster.
Mark Adams, a college basketball analyst for ESPN and the American Sports Network, reported Tuesday that the Valley is poised to add only Valparaiso and stand at 10 teams for the 2017-18 season.
Valley officials have been actively pursuing schools to add since Wichita State announced in early April that it is leaving for the American Athletic Conference, effective July 1.
Speculation has centered on four schools that Valley and member school officials have reportedly conducted site visits to: Valparaiso, Murray State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Nebraska-Omaha.
