Perhaps it's the salsa but it appears the St. Louis Cardinals are hoping the team's recent success is due to its interim manager.
Former Springfield Cardinals manager Mike Shildt's interim tag will be removed and he will be the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals going forward, according to USA Today MLB columnist Bob Nightengale.
Shildt replaced Mike Matheny when the Cardinals announced Matheny was fired on July 14. Since then, the Cardinals are 26-12 and are 4.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
Shildt has been a member of the Cardinals organization since 2004 and has been on the big league squad's coaching staff the last two seasons.
