Report: Hammons Field could be used for St. Louis Cardinals expanded roster this summer

Hammons Field could be used this summer by the St. Louis Cardinals if baseball were to be played, a report suggests.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Cardinals beat reporter Derrick Goold reported Monday morning that the Cardinals have received special permission to potentially use Hammons Field as a facility for players on an expanded roster or taxi squad to use.

All teams were told to find a facility within a 100-mile radius to use for such an expanded roster or taxi squad. With Springfield more than 100 miles away from Busch Stadium, special permission was necessary.

Baseball America first reported that MLB instructed teams to find sites for taxi squads.
