On a Saturday evening during the summer, Reeds Spring head football coach Andy McFarland helped arrange for his team to attend one of Branson's staple shows to see its senior captain, Eben Crain, perform.
McFarland and the rest of the Wolves were used to seeing a soft-spoken leader who knew when it was time to either have fun or hold his teammates accountable. They knew very few could match their captain's work ethic on the field but when he'd leave practice and go straight to a performance of "The Shepherd of the Hills," they were unsure what that side of him would look like.
