Conservation officials will host a class on raccoon hunting Dec. 3.
"Raccoon hunting is a winter tradition in some parts of the Ozarks," according to Missouri Department of Conservation. "In addition to being a unique outdoors pastime, raccoon hunting provides income to the hunter through the sale of pelts."
Hunting helps control the population of raccoons, which can be problematic if those numbers get too high.
To learn more about raccoon hunting, you can sign up for an in-person seminar titled "Hunting: Raccoon Hunt" from 6:30-11:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Greene County Raccoon Hunters Clubhouse, located at 897 Greene County Highway F near Bois D’Arc.
