Police have completed their initial investigation into Bradley University men’s basketball player Elijah Childs, and it is now up to the prosecutor’s office to decide whether Childs will face criminal charges related to an alleged sex offense during the Bradley team’s visit to Springfield this past season.
Greene County Prosecutor Dan Patterson confirmed to the News-Leader on Wednesday the Springfield Police Department had submitted a case to his office against Childs after investigating him for “sodomy in the second degree.”
Patterson said an assistant prosecutor in his office would review the case to determine whether there is enough evidence to charge Childs with the Class D felony that is defined as having “deviate sexual intercourse” with someone without their consent.
