Mount Vernon coach Grant Berendt is realistic about facing unblemished Strafford in Saturday's championship game at the Pink & White Classic.
“Ninety four have tried,” he said, alluding to Strafford’s current unbeaten streak. “You know what you’re going to get.”
Opponents this season are getting a veteran team that is shooting for its fourth consecutive state title and can play any style.
On Friday, that style was a fast-paced blend of physical and finesse as the Lady Indians stopped Kickapoo 68-43 in the Pink Division semifinal at O’Reilly Family Event Center.
They will face Mount Vernon — a familiar foe — in the final at 1 p.
