Oakland Athletics draft pick, MSU star Jeremy Eierman signs bigger contract than expected

Former Missouri State star Jeremy Eierman signed a contract with the Oakland Athletics for $350,000 more than what was slotted for where he was drafted.

Eierman was drafted in the supplemental second-round during last week's MLB Draft with the No. 70 overall pick by the Athletics.

The shortstop signed a contract with a $1,232,000 signing bonus which guarantees he will forgo his senior year at Missouri State. The value for the No. 70 overall pick was set at $872,400 before the draft.

MLB.com senior writer Jim Callis reported Eierman could be a potential steal for the Athletics with his "raw power, plus speed, cannon arm and plus makeup.
