For the second game in Albuquerque, the Bears got off to a quick start and held a lead in the middle innings.
And once again the lead vanished like a mirage in the desert.
New Mexico scored eight unanswered runs to overcome an early 4-0 Bears advantage and cruised past Missouri State, 9-5. The Bears stranded 15 runners on base and struggled to keep up with the hot Lobos’ bats.
The Bears (21-13, 6-0 MVC) dropped the opener on Thursday night after New Mexico (20-13-1) plated 11 straight runs to blow past MSU after the Bears clawed to a 7-5 lead in the fifth inning.
