Courtney Frerichs is having herself a month to remember.
Just a few weeks after winning the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, the Nixa native has broken her own American steeplechase record.
Frerichs became the first United States woman to break nine minutes with a time of 8:57.77 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase run on Saturday at the Nike Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.

She finished in second place at the meet behind Kenya's Norah Jeruto — who ran an 8:53.
