Missouri State needed three outs to get the game over with and come away with a win but mother nature had other plans.
Rain caused unplayable field conditions as the Bears and Illinois State Redbirds advanced to the top of the ninth inning with MSU leading 9-4 causing the game to be delayed until 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
A rain-filled opening day of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Hammons Field had already delayed the nightcap of Tuesday's single-game elimination round to Wednesday. The schedule will now be even more jumbled up as Valley teams compete for the league's automatic bid this week.
