OXFORD, Mississippi — Matt Brown wasn't having his best two games when Sunday afternoon's elimination game was tied with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.
The senior third baseman was 0-for-6 with five strikeouts and he took a fastball off the hand in a previous at-bat.
But with a runner in scoring position and a chance to win the game, he told himself he needed to come through for the team.
On a 1-1 count, the senior ripped a ball past the Saint Louis shortstop to score the runner from second and to keep the Bears' season alive.
