Missouri women's basketball knew the stakes going into its Southeastern Conference Tournament second-round matchup against Alabama on Thursday night.
The No. 10 seed Tigers trailed by as many as 13 points during the second quarter but methodically chipped away at the No. 7 seed Crimson Tide's lead, briefly going ahead near the end of the third quarter.
In the end, however, Alabama possessed too much firepower.
Alabama downed Missouri 82-74 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, to advance to Friday's quarterfinal against South Carolina.
Missouri falls to 9-11 overall, its NCAA Tournament hopes dashed in the process.
