New Missouri State head coach Ryan Beard has gotten shorter in his responses to whether the Bears still have an ongoing battle for the starting quarterback position.
"Yes," Beard quickly said following the Bears' scrimmage on Saturday to close out fall camp.
All offseason, the job was assumed to be 2022 backup quarterback Jacob Clark's to lose but the final scrimmage showed that it might be as much of a given as it once appeared to be.
Clark got the majority of the first-team reps and should still be considered the favorite but there were times when 2022 third-stringer Jordan Pachot showed that he may be worthy of the job instead.
