Missouri State got a glimpse of life without senior Liza Fruendt much earlier than they hoped. While it didn’t look pretty, a gutsy team effort produced the desired result.
The Lady Bears clawed their way back from a late fourth-quarter deficit to top Louisiana Tech, 63-59, in the opening round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament on Thursday night in Rustin, Louisiana. MSU advances to the second round against Texas Christian University in Fort Worth at noon on Saturday.
“Gutsy is exactly the word, I told [the team] it wasn’t the prettiest basketball game that’s ever been played,” said Lady Bears head coach Kellie Harper in her postgame radio interview.
