Tulio Da Silva wasn't supposed to play this season but he did and on Tuesday, he was named the best newcomer in the conference.
The Missouri Valley Conference announced Tuesday that Da Silva, Missouri State's star forward, has been named the 2019 Newcomer of the Year. He was also named first-team all-conference and to the all-newcomer team.
Da Silva — a junior transfer from South Florida — ended the season as Missouri State's top scorer at 14.7 points per game and he was the conference's second-leading rebounder while grabbing an average of 8.1 boards.
"All the work I've put in has been tough," Da Silva said.
