At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Jeremy Eierman doesn’t fit the bill for your typical bodyguard.
Especially when the person he’s protecting is 6-foot-2 and 210 barrel-chested pounds.
But that’s exactly what is happening these days with Missouri State’s baseball team.
Eierman is the sophomore shortstop from Warsaw, and he’s protecting All-American third baseman Jake Burger in the Bears’ lineup.
Without effective players around him in the lineup, it would be easy for opposing teams to pitch around Burger, issue him intentional (or unintentional intentional) walks and limit the damage he can do.
