Jon Leamy looked at the dispersing crowd at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium after Thursday night's match came to an end. A packed stadium exited in silence after cheering on the Bears throughout the night.
He saw the community he and his soccer team brought together at the place he loves the most. It suddenly hit him that his 30-year career on the Bears' sideline had come to its end.
"It's everything," Leamy said before a five-second pause as he fought back tears. "This is home."
Leamy's career as the Bears' head coach ended a few matches before he hoped as the Bears fell to Creighton 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
