Missouri State legend Ryan Howard announced his retirement from baseball.
The former Bears first basemen announced his retirement through a letter to Philadelphia on The Players' Tribune entitled "Thank you, Philly."
Howard played three seasons at Missouri State under head coach Keith Guttin. The St. Louis native was in Springfield from 1999-2001.
At Missouri State, Howard was the MSU and Missouri Valley Conference Rookie of the Year and a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American in 1999.
He finished his Missouri State career with 50 home runs, 183 RBI and a .335 batting average over 172 games.
