One season was all Missouri State needed to determine that it wants Bobby Petrino to be its football coach for as long as he wants to be in Springfield.
Missouri State announced Friday it has extended Petrino through the 2025 season with a new base salary of $325,000.
His pay increase was funded through private donations.
The extension comes after Petrino's first season in which he led the MSU football program to its first Missouri Valley Football Conference title and FCS Playoff appearance since 1990.
The extension also comes despite the fact Petrino had five years remaining on his initial deal that paid him $275,000 annually.
