CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Missouri State entered Sunday afternoon's matchup against Northern Iowa in control of its own destiny in the Missouri Valley Conference title race.
Now, the Bears will need a lot of help and are unlikely to win their first regular-season title since 2011.
Missouri State (20-9, 11-5) fell 95-75 to Northern Iowa (16-10, 12-4) at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Panthers now sit alone atop the conference standings to begin the final week of the regular season.
Northern Iowa hosts second-place Loyola Chicago (20-6, 11-4) on Saturday in what could be the league's championship game.
