In 1789, George Washington proclaimed that Thanksgiving would be a day to give thanks and bring people together.
What our nation's first president probably didn't see coming when he made that proclamation was that a school would eventually be named after him and that it'd have a basketball team that would play in early-season tournaments surrounding the holiday.
