Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, Missouri State baseball had a chance to avoid the play-in round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament if it did what it was supposed to do.
Instead, the Bears went 3-3 in their last six games and finished sixth in the league.
Missouri State was swept in a double-header at Bradley on Friday to finish the regular season 25-26. A loss in the MVC elimination game would secure the Bears a third-straight losing season (when you don't count the 2020 season that was canceled after 17 games due to the pandemic).
