Approaching the final weeks of the 2024 football season, the Missouri State University football team touched school records and earned its eighth straight win, along with a chance to claim — or at least share — the Missouri Valley Football Conference title next week, as the Bears defeated the Murray State University Racers 59-31.
The game was not the finest that the Bears have played, which either shows the strength of the team when functioning even at a low level, or how poorly the Racers have been playing.
In other games, the answer might have leaned toward the former, but this weekend, the last-place Racers — who sit near the bottom on both offense and defense in the entire Football Championship Subdivision — make it seem like it leans more to the latter.
