In a defensive showdown, the Missouri State University men’s soccer team struggled to score any goals against the University of Evansville Purple Aces, losing 1-0.
The Purple Aces came out full of energy against the No. 11 Bears, looking to set the tone early Wednesday night.
However, MSU showed why they went undefeated in conference play during the regular season, snuffing out all of UE’s attempts to stay on the Bears’ side of the pitch. The Bears dominated time of possession in the first half, not allowing the Purple Aces to make a single shot downfield.
While the defensive side of the ball was lights out in the first half for the Bears, the offense looked uncharacteristically dull coming out of the double bye.
