Missourians have an opportunity to learn more about prescribed burning at an upcoming workshop.
Missouri Department of Conservation will host the workshop from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Southwest Regional Office in Springfield, 2630 N. Mayfair Ave.
"Prescribed burning can be a valuable tool for managing native plant diversity and controlling undesirable vegetation, but it can be dangerous and ineffective when not used properly," MDC said.
You will learn about burn equipment, burn line installation, safe weather parameters and ignition operations along with techniques to safely conduct a prescribed burn.
