Sometimes even Superman needs some supporting help, and Missouri State’s version of a basketball superhero received just that on Sunday.
Alize Johnson piled up 21 points and 16 rebounds, but it took key plays from teammates in the final two minutes to lift the Bears past Indiana State 76-73 in front of 4,137 fans.
“Alize gets a lot of attention,” Missouri State guard Jarred Dixon said. “We know teams are going to be keyed in on him and we have to be ready to make plays.”
Dixon’s driving, high-arching jumper with 1:23 remaining, on the heels of Ronnie Rousseau’s basket on the prior possession, put the Bears ahead to stay.
