For the second year in a row, Lamar came up short in a state championship game that was decided in the final minute.
Blair Oaks (14-0) won the Class 2 state championship in a 32-27 thriller over Lamar on Friday evening in Columbia.
The Tigers had the ball at the Blair Oaks 17 when facing fourth-and-13 with 1:06 left in the game. A sack appeared to end Lamar's chances but a five-yard facemask was called giving Lamar a second life.
Lamar appeared to have converted on the next play when a perfectly executed tight end screen from Joel Beshore to Austin Wilkerson went 16 yards for a first down.
