If Missouri State’s women’s basketball team is to mount a late-season charge for the regular-season championship in the Missouri Valley Conference, defense will be a key.
Judging by Saturday afternoon’s rout of Wichita State, the Lady Bears’ defense is where it needs to be.
Missouri State held the Shockers (7-20, 4-12) to 34 percent shooting from the field for the game, allowed just 17 first-half points and forced 20 turnovers in a 74-45 victory before an announced crowd of 3,539 at JQH Arena.
“The last few games and practices, we’ve really focused on keeping teams under their averages,” senior Kenzie Williams said.
