All-state golfer Logan Smith adds the words “district champion” to a golf résumé that continues growing with every round.
The Kickapoo junior got through a damp day at Bill and Payne Stewart Golf Course to win the Class 4 District 6 championship on Monday with a score of 78. Smith defeated runners-up William Faulk and Seth Kovak, both of Nixa, by two strokes to win the tournament.
Smith advances to sectionals and aims to advance to the Class 4 state tournament for a second consecutive year. He placed 15th to attain all-state status in 2016.
Jacen Clark joined Nixa teammates Faulk and Kovak in the top five finishers at Bill and Payne Stewart to lead the Eagles to a round of 328 and a 14-stroke team victory over Kickapoo to win the district team championship.
