Kickapoo’s week of total domination was capped with a trophy.
The Chiefs were crowned Blue Division Champions of the 70th Annual Blue and Gold Tournament after a thorough 73-44 victory over Ozark Wednesday night at JQH Arena.
Kickapoo roared to a 10-0 start and were never threatened on the way to the school’s 12th Blue and Gold title, most in tournament history.
“It’s special for us because we don’t get the luxury of playing in this tournament every year,” Kickapoo coach Dick Rippee said. Kickapoo (and the other Springfield Public Schools) get a bi-annual invitation. The Chiefs won the Blue Division in 2013, its last appearance.
