Just over two months ago, Kickapoo head coach Mitch McHenry walked into his postgame press conference 30 minutes following his team's 31-point loss to Staley at the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions.
The soft-spoken coach sat in front of the room and promised better from the Chiefs moving forward. The team didn't play to the level most had become accustomed to as one of the premier programs in the entire state.
"These guys have been looking forward to this moment for forever," McHenry said on Jan. 13. "We just need to make the most of it and be proud of what we do against our opponent and I don't know how proud we can be of what just happened.
