AMES, Iowa — Sophomore guard Elle Ruffridge ended her high school basketball career as one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the state of Iowa.
She owns Iowa state records in points, assists and 3-pointers. She also led Pocahontas Area High School to back-to-back state titles in her final two seasons, while being awarded Iowa's Gatorade Player of the Year honors in both years.
But she had yet to have that breakout game as a member of the Lady Bears — until Saturday, on the biggest stage, when it mattered the most.
Ruffridge had a career-high 15 points while knocking down three clutch 3-pointers on a floor that she once dreamed of playing at.
