Parkview product Hunter Steinmetz talks about what it's been like playing in his hometown. Wyatt D. Wheeler, wwheeler@news-leader.com
Hunter Steinmetz grew up watching the Missouri State Bears at Hammons Field with his dad.
He remembers watching high-profile pitcher Ross Detwiler pitch against Wichita State from the stands. Even at the young age, he knew he wanted to be a Bear.
Steinmetz later turned into a star on the Parkview Vikings baseball team before achieving his dream of playing in front of his hometown crowd.
Now in his junior year and as a three-year starter for the Bears, Steinmetz is likely to follow Detwiler as an MLB draft pick.
