FAIR GROVE — Since making an unforgettable run to the championship game at the Blue and Gold Tournament in December, Sparta's legends of yesteryear have made it a point to watch the Trojans play and tell the players of today how much they're appreciated.
Junior point guard Walker Loveland said he's been approached by gentlemen who helped Sparta build itself into a winner back in 1954 when the program won its lone state championship. Others from the 1979 second-place team and teams from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s have reached out to the team as well.
After Friday night's thrilling 82-77 win in the Class 3, District 11 championship game, the Trojans of today will be the ones inspiring the Trojans of tomorrow.
