When the Springfield Cardinals open their 12th season in the Double-A Texas League on Thursday night, most eyes will be on three of the youngest players on the team.
The team’s top three prospects are catcher Carson Kelly (ranked No. 10 in the St. Louis organization by Baseball America), outfielder Harrison Bader (No. 15) and third baseman Paul DeJong (No. 16).
“We’ve got a bunch of good kids here,” Springfield manager Dann Bilardello said. “The Double-A level is where it happens. We should have an exciting club.
“I like all our players, we’ve got a good group and I’m excited to see them play.
