A rodeo is happening this weekend in Springfield, but no livestock will be bucking about.
Natural gas construction teams from utility companies across the country will be participating in the upcoming National Gas Rodeo Friday and Saturday. City Utilities of Springfield is hosting more than 30 teams for the two-day event.
The rodeo is a program through the Midwest Energy Association that launched in 1991. Springfield was the slated location during 2020; however, it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The teams of two or four people will compete in challenges such as quickly and accurately constructing a meter set, installing a natural gas service line and cut pipe, according to a CU news release.
