Hummingbirds will soon be passing through Missouri during their spring migration, and conservation officials want the public to know more about these feathered friends.
“It’s time to prepare those feeders,” said Sarah Kendrick, Missouri Department of Conservation’s State Ornithologist, via news release.
The tiny fliers tend to start making appearances in Missouri in mid-April, but Kendrick said some have already been spotted in Arkansas.
Ruby-throated hummingbirds winter in Mexico and Central America before beginning their spring migration north as early as March. You can track their migration and report sightings through Journey North, Kendrick said.
