FAIR GROVE — Zeke Schaffitzel rushed for two touchdowns in the second half and powered the Fair Grove Eagles to a 28-12 victory over the Strafford Indians in the Class 2, District 3 playoff opener on Friday night.
Strafford dominated the third quarter and turned a 6-0 halftime deficit into a 12-6 lead as quarterback Vance Mullins hooked-up with freshman wideout Silas Morton for two long and dazzling touchdown strikes.
Fair Grove head coach Bill Voorhis went back to basics and the Eagles repeatedly hammered Strafford with the same play — a give to Schaffitzel — and the junior gashed the Indians defense.
