Glendale wins golf sectional, will defend state title in Joplin

Low numbers proved to be the norm in Pleasant Hill, where the Glendale Falcons claimed a team and an individual sectional golf championship.

Senior Alex Locke blistered Hoots Hollow Golf Course in a 2-under par 70 to claim the Class 4 Sectional 2 high school boys golf title and advance to next week’s state championship. The win marks back-to-back sectional tournament championships for Locke, a senior signed to play golf next year at Maryville University.

Glendale, the reigning Class 4 state champions, clinched a win with a four-player score of 295. In high school golf, five players from the same school generate a team score, with the highest of five scores not counting.
